Dinner at Home

Kelp Noodles and Trumpet Mushrooms in Coconut Milk and Fresh Basil
We found great 0 carb noodles at Whole Foods of all places. They are very similar to Mung Bean noodles, just without the carbs.

Misxed Green Salad with Balsamic Vinagrette

Baby Back Ribs in a Chili/Lime Rub

Lunch from Bistro Burger, San Francisco, CA

Bacon Cheesburger Royale $9
This was ordered "low-carb style", which means it costs $1.25 more and came without bun but with a fairly large salad. The burger would have been better had it arrived hot rather than lukewarm. The salad was large and had good quality greens, but it contained weird ingredients like beans.

Salad that came with the above burger.

Double Bacon Cheese Burger Royale with Brie and Cheddar $8
Ditto.

Dinner at Home

Italian Wedding Soup
Turkey meatballs, escarole, pasta balls, egg and parmasean in chicken broth. I have found that the key to good low carb meatballs (without breadcrumbs) is parmasean and flax seed.

Roasted Chestnuts

Brunch at Waffle House, Placerville, CA

We dropped by the Waffle House in Placerville on our ride home to San Francisco. A standard dinner, they perfectly accommodated Alexis' request to turn on omelette into a scramble, and served up a standard and hearty breakfast.

Ham, Sausage, Green Pepper, Onion and Cheese Scramble $8
Good egg to stuff ratio.

Bacon, Sour Creme and Avocado Omelette $7
Big and hearty.

Biscuits and Gravy (came with the entrees)
Not fluffy enough and the gravy was too floury.

Dinner at Tahoe, CA

We were staying in a rental house that had no spices or ingredients, so we had to make due. It turned out quite well though.

Steak in a Bacon, Mustard, Maple Syrup and Whiskey Reduction
These were the ingredients we had on hand, and the marinade and sauce were very good.

Sauteed Zuchinni and Mushrooms

Desperation at Tahoe, CA

Our friends F___ and M___ left us in the wee hour of the morning to go skiing while we slept off our late night New Year's Eve's over-indulgences. Unfortunately they took the only car, so we were trapped in the storm with only the previous rentors questionable food tastes. After scouring the cabinets, and phoning every delivery joint in South Lake Tahoe, we were left with 2 cans of soup, and some Easy Mac.

Progresso Beef and Vegetable Soup
Wretched. I had one bite and threw it out.

Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup
Also disgusting, but more palatable than the former.

EasyMac
The best dish of the bunch, this dish harkens back to our childhood and is truly, and strangely, comfort food.
