Dinner at Home
Sauteed Brussel Sprouts
These brussel sprouts were trimmed and halved, seasoned with salt and pepper and sauteed in a bit of olive oil until tender. Very easy.
1 head of garlic, cloves peeled and minced cooked in 1/2 stick of butter over love heat until crispy. Throw a spritz of lemon juice in there at the very end for a bit of acidity if you like.

Dinner at Farmer Brown's, San Francisco, CA
Cornbread Mini-muffins with Maple Butter (gratuit)
The cornbread was OK, but we were taken off-guard by this alarmingly sweet butter. Since we don't generally like sweets all that much and don't expect them at the beginning of a meal, it was a bit strange to us.
Seafood Jumbalaya with Andouille Sausage $20
The sausage was good, and this was full of shrimp and catfish, but it was fairly bland. We added the hot sauce that was on the table, and then it was a bit better.
Fried Chicken with Collard Greens and Mac n' Cheese $16.50
This dish was the true stand out of the night. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, yet the crust was thin and super crispy. Yum. The greens were also delicious, with the right amount of bitterness. The mac was a bit lackluster and the cheese sauce was a bit grainy.
Alexis couldn't resist the siren call of carrot cake, despite her general attitude towards sweets and carbs. This was very good. The cake itself was barely sweet and the frosting was smooth. She could only eat about half of this giant slice before becoming way too full, but it was very satisfying.

Miso Soup
In an attempt to creat a lighter soup, Alexis omitted the seaweed, and Giao thought the soup was fairly flavorless as a result. Alexis liked it though.
Chili Rubbed Baby Back Ribs
Parboiled for 15 minutes, then cooked in the Ron Popeil "Set It and Forget It' Showtime Rotisserie Grill for 38 minutes. The very best as-seen-on-tv product out there, as far as we are concerned. Click here for our no-fail wet rub.
Brocollini with Garlic and Lemon
Brocollini is a more intense, sweeter, more tender cousin to brocolli. With crispy garlic and a sprtiz of lemon juice, these brocollini came to life and were very tasty.

Chicken Wings $12
16 very tiny wings. This place is overpriced, but you are there for the 20 tvs with sports on, not the food.

Breakfast at Home
The technique we use is to cook 4 slices of bacon on paper towels on a plate in the microwave for 5 minutes. This makes the slices extra crispy and never burnt, and also wicks away the grease. While the bacon is in the microwave, scramble 3 eggs. Then place 2 slices of cooked bacon and 1/2 the eggs in a line down the center of each low carb tortilla. Sprinkle with cheese, wrap and place seam-down in a pan on medium. Cook for a minute or so, until the cheese has sealed the seam. Flip and cook for another minute.

Fried Fish with Ginger Sauce $7.50
This was a little different this time, seemingly breaded in pure cornstarch. Strange.
A little tough today, but still tasty.
A HUGE bowl of delicious soup for a very reasonable price. The crab and the white asparagus are great flavors together.

Dinner at Home
A super-easy weeknight dish. 20 minutes, start to finish, one pan.
-1 napa cabbage, sliced
-3 tb black bean sauce
-2 tb soy sauce
Sautee the pork in the soy sauce. When browned, add the cabbage and cover. When cabbage begins to wilt, stir in the black bean sauce. When pork is cooked through, serve.

Lunch from Bistro Burger, San Francisco, CA
Totally inedible. Why, why, why would a delivery place dress the salad before delivery? All this does is render the greens soggy.

Dinner at Home
Diced Chicken Lettuce Cups
Usually we make these with ground turkey, but today we didn't have any. And Alexis found out that dicing raw chicken is a real pain. However, these were pretty darn good.
-2 chicken breasts, diced
-1/2 cup roasted, salted peanuts
-1 bell pepper, diced
-1 onion, diced
-1 can water chestnuts, chopped
-10 cloves garlic, minced
-1 handful fresh cilantro, chopped
-juice of 1/2 lemon
-2 tb chili garlic sauce
-1 tb oyster sauce
-2 tb soy sauce
-1 tb hoisan sauce
-2 tb pickled ginger, minced
Sautee the water chestnuts, bell pepper, onions, garlic and pickled ginger in a bit of olive oil and the 1/2 the soy sauce. When soft, add the diced chicken and all of the sauces and sautee, stirring frequently, until chicken is cooked through. Then add the lemon juice, the cilantro and the peanuts, stir and spoon into iceberg lettuce leaves.
