Dinner at Ducca, San Francisco, CA
We went to meet a friend for dinner at Ducca, as our first choice, B, was closed for a private party. Although we were seated relatively quickly, the service was horrendous, as usual. It's a shame, since the food is quite good. They really need to hire more competent people. Tonight we were routinely ignored. We had to ask for water twice before we got it. We had to ask the waiter if there were specials (which there were). It was ridiculous.
Pappardelle with Braised Lamb Ragu $22
A large version of a tasty, homey pasta dish. The only thing disconcerting about this dish was the use of big chunks of carrot.

Sun Maxim's Bakery, San Francisco, CA
Siu Mai $6
While waiting for 4 hours for our hardwood floors to arrive at our new place, I went off on a hunt for some early morning dim sum. The only place open around 7am within a block or so was Sun Maxim's. It was edible, but not great.

Phad Thai, Sort Of
This was a mish mash of all sort of ingredients we had in the fridge. It was kind of like fried rice, but with noodles instead of rice.
-1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
-2 pork chops, cubed
-3 packages kelp noodles, chopped
-2 eggs, scrambled
-5 scallions, chopped
-2 tb chili garlic sauce
-2 tb soy sauce
-1 tb sesame oil
-3 tb oyster sauce
-2 tb fish sauce
-1 cup chicken broth
Scramble the eggs and set aside. Sautee the pork cubes in 1 tb of soy sauce and set aside when done. Sautee the shrimp in 1 tb of oyster sauce ad set aside when done. Sautee the scallions and the noodles together with the rest of the sauces, then add the chicken broth and simmer until the broth is evaporated and the noodles are soft. Add back in all fothe other ingredients and heat through.

Lunch at Lee's Sandwiches, San Francisco, CA
To our delight, by happenstance we discovered an outpost of Lee's Sandwiches in San Francisco. We've only seen Lee's in the LA area and so we were happy to see one in SF...we knew we were in for good sandwiches at a very cheap price. We found the sandwiches tasty, but the baguettes were not as crusty as we would have liked (or had remembered).
Grilled Pork Bahn Mi$2.50
Slightly sweet meat matched the pickled veggies well.

Brunch at Canteen, San Francisco, CA
Canteen is one of our favorite brunch spots. Although the portions are not huge, the food in unfalteringly good.
Beef Tongue and Mushroom Omelet $9
The tongue was very tender and was a nice, meaty complement to the fluffy eggs. It was served with pretty decent breakfast potatoes as well.

Eggs Benedict $12
A very good rendition of a classic dish, also served with the breakfast potatoes.
