Dinner at Home

Caprese salad

Golden Beet and Turnip soup with Chopped Fresh Basil

Lunch at Home

Another so-so attempt at mock-aroni and cheese, made with cauliflower rather than macaroni. This time was better than the last attempt, but still, the second the cheese sauce is mixed with the cauliflower it separates into a rubbery substance and a watery one. This time I tried just mixing the two together without baking, and it was noticably less watery, but still not perfect. At this point, my hypothesis is that this reaction is caused by the interaction between the steam coming from the cauliflower and cheesy goodness. Next time I will let the cauiflower cool until there is no steam, then fold it into the cheese sauce.

Cheesy scrambled eggs with ham, onions and baby bell peppers.

Dinner at Home

Coconut chicken curry with tomatos and butter drenched steamed broccoli.

Snack at cigar bar & grill, San Francisco, CA

Grilled Tiger Prawn Skewers ($7)
The prawns were standard, and I didn't try the corn cake it is sitting on. I was not too impressed with this dish.

Pulled Pork Quesadillas ($7) - Tasty version of the simple dish.

Lunch at Sai's Restaurant, San Francsico, CA 94107

This place pales in comparison to Tu Lan on all levels. The flavors always seem to be muted in some way. But it is about 5 times closer to the office.

Catfish Claypot
The sauce was a little thin, but the flavor was good.

Barbequed Pork
Not quite charred enough for my taste. And again, the sauce lacked its customary zest.

Asparagus Crab Soup
The soup itself is much too bland, and the asparagus too crunchy. Giao said it needed MSG. Even adding soy and rooster sauce did not improve the taste much.

Fried Chicken from Safeway $2
Substandard, but it's from a grocery store, so what can you expect?

Salmon Salad with Capers, Red Onions and Dill.
Just right for Alexis, not enough mayo for Giao.

Leftover Mish-Mash
Celery Root Soup, Green Beans with Garlic and Parmasean, Salmon Salad in Lettuce Wraps, Strawberries.

Breakfast at Home

Scrambled eggs with leftover chicken/gouda sausage. (I apologize for the crappy picture, I was in a hurry on the way to work.)

Late Night Snack at Solstice, San Fransisco, CA

This cozy hip lounge/restaurant in the Pacific Heights has decent people watching and friendly service, but too noisy and mediocre if just judging it as a restaurant.

Ahi Tuna Tartare $11 - A bit too tangy for my taste, and the apples didn't add anything.

Antipasto Plate $7.50 - Solid, if standard, selection of meats and artichoke
Chicken Wings $6 - Unmemorable

Chicken, Apple and Gouda Sausages with Mixed Green Salad with Balsamic Vinagrette--These sausages were a new find at Costco and they are pretty damn good. Much better than that ubiquitous presence in high-end sausages, Aidell's.
