Dinner at Andalu, San Francisco, CA

We had a couple of hours to kill before our movie--the SF Indie Film Festival is going on right now--and we were hungry, so we decided to get some dinner at Andalu, which was about a block from the Roxie. It was decent but not stellar, and it took FOREVER to get our last 2 dishes.

Beef Carparccio with Fennel, Mushrooms and a Creamy Vingagrette $10
This was pretty tasty, albeit a very small portion. And the button mushrooms didn't bode well with Giao.

Smoked Salmon Salad with Cucumbers and Potato Chips $9
Disgusting--this glorified salmon salad was way too salty and the oil from the chips tasted rancid.

Halibut with Ginger-Soy Sauce $12
Delicate and very thin, this fish stayed moist and tender. The sauce complemented the fish very well.

BBQ Shrimp with Spicy Sauce $10
Perhaps the best dish we had all night, the shrimp were cooked to perfection (a hard feat on a barbeque). and the sauce was pleasantly spicy.

Duck Confit with French Lentils and Fresh Greens $11
The duck (probably because it had been cured in fat) was juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The dressing on the greens had an acidic kick that added a little something to the otherwise bland lentils.

Lamb with Chickpea Puree $12
This was tender and flavorful, but we were full at this point in the meal and the dish arrived so late that we were shoveling it down as we paid the bill.
