Lunch at Bix, San Francisco, CA

Bix only serves lunch on Friday and so it was rather serendipitous that we decided to forgo the usual catered into the office Friday lunch. We went out without a plan and then remembered, that it was Friday and we could therefore lunch at Bix, a place that is perfect for an after work cocktail, but also serves pretty good food.

Arugula and Butter Pear Salad with Aged Gouda, Hazelnuts and Golden Balsamic Vinagrette $9
The tartness of the dressing, the crunch of the hazelnuts, the crystalline aged gouda--this was delicious.

Seared Albacore Tuna with Braised Leeks, Chanterelles, Tarragon and Sunchoke Chips $18
This was very good as well. The only bad thing was that the fish was a bit tough, but the flavors were excellent.

Hearts of Romaine with Blue Cheese Vinagrette $8
Sort of slimy and generally not good.

Steak Tartare $12.50
This dish is prepared tableside, so we took the before (above) and after (below) photos. This was good and fresh, as always.

Ahi Tuna Tartare on Olive Toasts $9
Also very decent.
