Lunch at Shalimar, San Francisco, CA

Shalimar has the reputation as having the best Indian food in the city. Due to an unfortunate food poisioning incident verifibly traced back to Shalimar, Giao has avoided the place since before the tech bubble burst. We decided to let bygones be bygones and give it a second shot. We were pleased and, 10 hours later, our guts are still in tact.

Palak Paneer $5.95
Slightly sweet and fresh tasting. Luckily, there was an absense of cream in this dish, as seems to appear sometimes in Indian restaurants in SF.

Chicken Kofta $5.95
These chicken meatballs in a creamy tomato based sauce were flavorful and chunky. Not your average meatball...much, much better.

Chicken Tikka Masala $6.95
Average, but still good. We much prefer Chicken Mahkni, CTM's sister dish that is made with dark meat and is a bit richer, but they wouldn't make it for us.

Chicken Tandoori $3.50
This was quite possibly the best tandoori chicken ever. I think it is the slices that make the rub sink in and provide more surface area for crispiness. Yum.
