Dinner at Pala Casino, Pala, CA

About 15 of us ended New Year's day with casino buffet in Pala, a place preceded by about 15 minutes of trailer parks. A mammoth building that seems to arise out of nowhere.

Creme Brulee (too sweet), Brownie (not bad, although it had a starnge sugar crust), Carrot Cake (way too sweet), Beignet (pretty darn good--crunchy and hot).

Apple Pie (gelatinous and cold), Strawberry Tarts (the strawberries were good, the tart we didn't touch), Chocolate Chip Cookie (soft, but tasted store bought).

Prime Rib (tough), Ham (salty), Peel and Eat Shrimp (not bad), Meatball (salty), Fried Green Tomatos (actually very good, with a cornmeal crust).

Crawfish (pretty good, probably the best thing at the buffet), Shirmp (decent), Crab Cakes (inedible--way too much filler).

Caesar Salad (a bit limp), Eggroll (way too bready and lacking in flavor), Potsticker (ok), Sui Mai (weird, mushy devoid of color and flavor), Olives (would have been better with the pits, but still you can't go wrong with olives).
