Dinner at Range
We went back to Range, our winner for best newcomer of 2006. It was still very good, but not quite as good as we remembered. Last time we had 100% hits, this time there were a couple misses.
Watercress Soup $7
Served with sour cream and breadcrumbs, this soup was sublime. Very smooth and incredibly flavorful.
Hamachi with Shaved Fennel and Sea Salt $12
Although the fish was fresh, there just wasn't a whole lot going on with this dish flavor-wise.
Little Gem Lettuce Salad with Fried Capers and Radishes $8.50
A salad is a salad, but the fried capers were a really inspired touch.
Bavette Steak with Blue Cheese and Sherry Reduction $21
Cooked to temperature and packed with flavor. Very good.
Cream Puffs with Cardamom Ice Cream and Candied Orange $8
I probably would not have ordered this if I had had one less glass of wine in me. It was ok, but I was glad I was sharing it.
