Dinner at Rassela's Jazz and Ethiopian Cuisine, San Francisco, CA

We needed a place near the Kabuki Cinema for dinner, and we decided to try Rassela's, a spot we'd stumbled upon for a drink the other day. The food was good, and the jazz was great (although that didn't start till 9ish).

Sambussa $8
These hearty, meat filled pastries were tasty, but the oil they were fried in was not hot enough, resulting in pastries that were too greasy.

Injera (served with all entrees)
This sour, spongy bread is used to pick up the food to eat with your hands, and for sopping up the sauces. It's an acquired taste.

Yebeg Alecha $12
Lamb cooked in onions and green peppers. Not much going on flavor-wise and the meat was a bit tough.

Tibs Wat $12
Beef strips in a spicy sauce. Very tasty. The sauce was delectable.

Kitfo $12.50
This Ethiopian version of beef tartare was very tasty, but there was far too much of it, and the sheer size of the dish made it a bit off-putting. They could charge the same amount for about 1/3 of the dish and it would have been just as satisfying, if not more so.
