Lunch at Cafe Mum's, San Francisco, CA
In between film festival movies, we took a few hours for Cafe Mum's, our favorite spot in Japantown. Cafe Mum's is located in the bottom of the Miyako Inn, and has recently reinvented itself as a rather chic little cafe, instead of an out-dated hotel restaurant. We have no idea what the other food they serve is like because the only reason to go is the all you can eat shabu shabu. This is Japanese hot-pot at its best. For $23 per person you get endless platters of meat, veggies, tofu and noodles for cooking in a cast-iron hot pot in the middle of the table. For another $10 you also get all you can drink sake and beer.
Cabbage, Spinach, Enoki Mushrooms, Shitake Mushrooms, Tofu, Udon and Glass Noodles
We only really use the tofu and spinach, but it's all good.
