Dinner at Les Amis, San Francisco, CA

We decided to give Les Amis a try, as it's close to work for both of us, and we had had late nights at work. The food was decent, the service was attentive, but overall it was not a standout of a restaurant.

Amuse Bouche (gratuit)
Prawn dumpling with red pepper coulis. This was actually pretty tasty. It was fresh, and a great first bite.

White and Green Asparagus Salad with Poached Egg and Parmasean $10
The egg really made this dish. Also, it was really nice that the green and the white asparagus were prepared in different ways so that they added not only their own flavors, but also their own textures to the dish.

Chilled Pea Soup with Lobster Claw and Lemon Oil $10
This dish sounded great in theory, but the after taste was what can only be described as stale.

Duck Breast with Duck Confit, Spinach and Beet Sauce $25
The sauce was a bit sweet, but the duck was tender and juicy and the confit wrapped in spinach was very nice.

Trio of Rabbit $29
The ravioli was lacking in seasoning and the pasta was a bit thick. The very tiny rack of rabbit was totally, surprisingly delicious. The rabbit wrapped in langoustine was a bit dry but very flavorful.

House-made Fruit Gelees (gratuit)
The fruit flavor really shined through, although we're not exactly sure what fruit flavor it was.
